SECTOR SKILLS ACADEMIES FOR SPORT

Active Apprentice is pleased to announce that it has launched its Sector Skills Academies for Sport project in partnership with Vision West Nottinghamshire College and offered via our partner network of providers including Creative Sport & Leisure (CSL), Future Fit Training, Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), Institute of Swimming (IoS) & Swim England.

The Sector Skills Academies project will allow us to offer support to learners who want to get into the Sport and Physical Activity Sector. It will offer the opportunity to study courses that the industry values and will provide learners access to the knowledge and skills for critical industry roles and potentially gain valuable, sustainable employment and in areas such as:

  • Beach Lifeguarding
  • Pool Lifeguarding
  • Pool Supervision
  • Education and Training within Sport
  • Health Activation
  • Swim Teaching
  • Swim Coaching
  • Gym Instructing
  • Personal Training

The Sector Skills Academy for Sport works by offering learners the chance to receive funded training as part of the Adult Education Budget (AEB) delivered by Vision West Nottinghamshire College partnered with Active Apprentice.

Learners will be taught via courses both online and face to face and provide them all of the required knowledge and skills to be able to pass an assessment within their chosen discipline. Assessments will be taken post programme if the learner decides that they wish to pursue the career opportunity further and will either be funded by the individual or their employer.

The project is closely linked to some of the biggest employers within the sector and championing the Sector Skills Academies that will give individuals the chance to retrain from existing roles or gain access to employment ladder from being unemployed.

Gary Denton – Managing Director of Active Apprentice said “This is such an exciting opportunity to be a part of and for the sector as a whole. Right as employers are looking to reopen their doors to the general public and are looking at the potential skills shortage within their businesses to facilitate a safe opening. The Sector Skills Academies will provide valuable training to individuals who see our sector as a viable career for the future.

Working with Vision West Nottinghamshire College is a perfect match for us as it closes the loop on our offer of Recruit, Employ, Place and Train as we can now provide opportunities for training before being recruited to the sector and during employment which allows our partner employers to have the best possible workforce.”
